Harry Angelides, the founder and owner of The Property Chambers, is a Barrister, called to the Bar in 1987, is authorised to practise in all UK Courts in relation to all proceedings. He is also authorised to practise in the state of New York USA.
Harry has been involved in law since the age of 16, first by working in the summers while off school and college as an “Outdoor Clerk” in various solicitors (this involved working on client cases, issuing proceedings, and taking notes in court and providing support to a barristers presenting the case); then as an Official Court Interpreter, from Greek to English. These experiences allowed him an early understanding of the workings of the English legal system.
After completing his Law Degree and passing the Bar Exams, he gained a First Six Pupillage in EG Nugee QC’s Chambers (now Wilberforce Chambers). A leading Property, Trusts, and Chancery Chambers. Pupil Master was Mr Nicholas Warren (now a High Court Judge: The Hon. Mr Justice Warren QC -Chancery Division). He worked with other barristers in Chambers, including: as they then were, Christopher Nugee (now Lord Justice of Appeal) and Terrance Etherton (until recently Master of the Rolls, now Baron Etherton).
His Second Six Pupillage was at the Chambers of Michael West QC. 1 Grey’s Inn Square, Grey’s Inn. His Pupil Master was Mr. Ivor Frank. The work was Varied Criminal Defence work, including Magistrates/Crown Court Trials. Whilst in Chambers he worked for various barristers including Pat Scotland (as she then was, now Baroness Scotland of Asthal PC QC) and Michael West QC.
Ivor Frank’s practise at that time was defending serious crime in the Crown Court, a very skilled, advocate. From these beginnings, Harry developed skills in court craft and became a Civil and Criminal Defence barrister in his own right, conducting criminal and civil trials over many years.
Harry spent some time in New York and qualified as a New York Attorney.
Property Investment
In parallel to his law practise, he started investing in property early and bought his first house in 1988. From there Harry got involved in social housing, especially Refugees (specialising in victims of torture) for the Refugee Council and Local Authorities, and housing Homeless Persons. He then ran Children’s Homes for Looked After Children and Adult Care Home for persons with Learning Disabilities. Later he got into property development and enjoyed the design aspect of working with his Architect partners. He is now involved in Student Housing.
